Admit something: Everyone you see, you say to them, “Love me.” Of course you do not do this out loud, otherwise Someone would call the cops. Still, though, think about this, this great pull in us to connect. Why not become the one who lives with a Full moon in each eye that is always saying, With that sweet moon language, what every other eye in This world is dying to hear?
Hafiz
there is no full moon tonight,
just a new year turning.
but, as a new decade begins
i don't know much to be true
beyond this.
we are all longing
and desperate
and crazy for love.
i was reminded of this
poem in an On Being podcast
and it always rings true.
this kitten purring on my lap
"love me love me love me"
the children rushing in with lego
a drawing or a kickflip
"love me love me love me"
lying side by side in bed
"love me love me love me"
oh to be seen,
beheld with love.
be held with love.
hafiz placed love
in the eye of the
beholder.
and we can't go
back and un-wound
the wounds.
and there is no
fixing what must
be healed.
but patience,
attention,
gentle care,
hard work,
loving intention.
the slow steps
of awareness.
the constant work
of self-love and
compassion.
the touch of a friend,
noticing one another.
noticing the moment
as it happens.
the ice as it slowly heaves
a weary sigh.
that expression crossing
their face.
the snow in constant motion.
and wondering,
at the mystery of it all.
how the body breaks
and heals.
how joy alights in
pure presence.
how people go on
beyond what
they can bear.
so let's be gentle,
as always.
and stronger than
we think we
are.
and choose love
in each moment.
this tender earth
every random encounter
our precious selves
the Holy Other
the present here & now
"love me"
"love me"
"love me"
we all cry.
from my heart,
to yours
and from the Love
beyond...
i love you.
you are loved.
you are beheld.
you are beloved.
as above,
so below.
